He was involved in several crimes, including theft and murder, and is particularly known for his role in the Lincoln County War.
The Lincoln County War was a conflict between competing cattle empires in New Mexico Territory. Billy the Kid played a significant role in the conflict, often siding with the ranchers against the larger cattle companies. He was involved in several murders during this period, including that of Sheriff William Brady.
